Resolutions

I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions but this year I've been thinking about it and I came up with this idea:

I am going to start journaling again.

When I got clean the first time I had this amazing therapist who told me to journal all of my feelings and everything I did daily. I didn't understand why I should do this at the time, but man let me tell you, after just a few months I was journaling like an old pro. I really got in tune with myself and I loved it.

I don't know why I ever stopped doing it. Laziness. Life. What have you, but I am going to try it again. Now I have to decide whether I want to just keep this personal and do it the old fashion way; pen and paper; or do I want to put it on here? What is a girl to do?

Oh, before I forget I wanted to let everyone who can read: You MUST read this book:

"Handle With Care" by Jodi Picoult

I read it in 2 days, it was the best book I've ever read. It was one of those books that when you start it you can not put it down no matter what is happening! It was definately a page turner. I found myself crying and laughing with the characters. There are times in the book when I wanted to scream at certain characters. I could empathize and at times I disagreed. Seriously if you're looking for a great read try it out, it is a Great book.

  1. Journaling is a great idea. You kind of already do they, right here. I love my handwritten journals though, they have proven points that would have been long forgotten.

  2. I write on here but I also write by hand in a notebook I always keep on me and don't share those scribblings. But that is awesome that you are wanting to take it up again. You could mix it up a bit that makes it fun.

  3. Great idea!

There was a time in my life when I journaled for years. And you're right...it was so theraputic. In fact, I still have them and will sometimes go back a reread them to see where I was during that time in my life.

I also use to keep a separate journal for my dreams. That REALLY helped because as I wrote my dreams down, it became clear to me what the dreams symbolized.

    Journaling is amazing!

Thanks for sharing the book recommendation. I will look for it in Borders the next time I'm there.

Hope you had a great day, my friend!

Yea you're right; blogging is sorta like journaling isn't it? I think i've decided to keep my personal journal well, personal. I write better than I compose at the keyboard anyways. Thanks for stopping by!

    Gavin,
Somehow I guessed that about you; that you carry a notebook around with you, you are such a talented writer I'll bet as soon as something strikes you you just scribble it down! Thanks for the idea!

I wish that I still had all my journals but when I moved from Johnston they got lost. Oh well I'll just have to start over. Yes definately read "handle with care" it is a great book!

I agree with you about words flowing on paper rather than a computer screen. All my papers for school are hand written and then I type them up, I guess it's just the way we did things back then! OMG you have to read the book,it is awesome!

  7. Just stopped by to wish you a Happy New Year! Love your blog and am looking forward to more spice from you in 2010!

PS: I was walking the neighborhood with my husband yesterday and mentioned your blog! I told him the story of the boozy couple {pregnant wife included} that comes into your restaurant and saddles up to the bar with their young child while they throw four or five drinks back. I reiterated the post the best I could and we both just walked and shook our heads. Funny what sticks with you, huh?

"Handle with Care" is the first book of her's that I've read, but I'm gonna look into some others of hers. I saw the movie My Sister's Keeper but someone I work with read the book and told me that they changed the ending in the movie, why do they do that? Thanks for stopping by, I love your blog btw!

    Alix,
I'm so glad you found my blog and actually took one of my posts to heart. sometimes I think nobody cares what I write about, it seems silly to me honestly. but thanks for talking about me and my post with your hubby! Stay tuned for more asshole customers I'm sure they're on their way! Unfortunate for me.

  9. Everyone's got a little assholeism. Some folks just haven't learned how to channel it.
